I have many paint problems with my 2006 WRX that is Aspen White. Subaru is definitely not known for great paint, and I have not taken care of it as well as I should have. I’ve been trying to repair it using various products but there is only so much I can do. So I’ve decided I need to step up to drastic measures. I have a few ideas and am wondering if anyone has experience or suggestions for me.
Option 1: Plastidip
It would be fairly cheap to do and the process is well documented. I could change to cars color to anything not white and if I didn’t like it I could change it again in a few years.
Option 2: Graffiti car
I could do what Maggie Stiefvalter did and go completely mad and give my car some flair. It would hide the flaws and would be completely different from anything else.

Option 3: Paint the car
I could step outside my comfort zone and paint my WRX. I do have access to a ventilated paint booth and my cousin and brother have painted a few semis various colors. This is probably the smartest option but I’ll have to take an extended weekend to North Dakota to do this. That’s a 6 hour drive one way and it’s not like I could leave the car there. It would be a long and busy weekend. Plus I’d owe my brother a big favor.
Option 4:
Go to a body shop and relieve myself of $2-5k. This is not really an option for me at this time.
Option 5:
Deal with it and live with it.
So if you have any advice, expertise or just want to chime in, leave me some comments.

How much do you like the car, do you see yourself driving it next 5+ years? If so, I’d say paint it.
Now, if you just want it to look better, I’d say dip it. When done well, it looks nice.

If you do #2, prepare to be pulled over for doing nothing constantly. For no other reason than you caught their attention, an d depending on area , their never- ending hope to smell some marijuana.... And even if they don’t smell any, I imagine German Shepard nails are hell on the interior. Food for thought, anyway.

Option 1.5: Emulate TG with a wrap for a fake business.

Don’t know what your level of detail expertise is, but if it stops at clay bars and wax, hop on a local car forum and find a paint repair expert. The kind who already has and has used the various compounds, with fancy lights & before/after shots. They can work miracles.

Why not a wrap? (I know nothing about wrapping a car but have been wanting to do my NC someday)

Option 5.
If you still love it/want to keep it in 5 years or so, ask around to find a good paint place and have it done professionally

Id go with option 3, I've yet to see a plastidipped car that didn't look plastidipped. And if not that then, how about a cutrate job(maaco)

What kind of paint problems are we talking about? Clearcoat failure? Rock chips? Fender well rust pockets?
Der p and ghetto spray will look like trash in a few months, diy with mixed results. If it’s worth it to you have it resprayrd properly. Otherwise I would just live with it. Get it dirty, mud hides all sorts of stuff..

Maybe Autoflex like that Oppo member who made his ND Miata copper colored.

In that case I’d go with one of the so many dip solutions.

Find some of this.

Then hit it with a roller.

In that case, I would recommend #5. But, if the way it looks is bumming you out, then #1.
